Update: Save-the-Dates
I was going to write a couple blogs last week, but life has been a little nutty with:
1. Hurricane Gustav- WTF, dude? Thanks for not hitting New Orleans directly, but it’s still awfully inconvenient to evacuate. My house still doesn’t have power (sorry you’re going through this alone, Chuck… I promise I’ll replenish our whiskey supply when I get home) and I’m praying Ike defies his abusive name and goes elsewhere.
2. Traveling- See #1. I spent a few evacuation days in Jackson, Mississippi and now I’m in Chicago invading the Ide-Crank household until Sunday. We managed to get a huge New Orleans posse up here this week, which can only mean trouble. Chicago didn’t know what it was in for.
3. Work- The only bad thing about working from home for a California-based company is that work doesn’t stop during mandatory evacuations in Louisiana. So I’ve been that loser college friend who sits on Ide’s futon all day and doesn’t shower till 6 p.m. (at least I’m working on my laptop and not watching “Tyra” and drinking a six-pack of High Life).
Anyway, those are my excuses. I’ll try to do better next week… if there is power in New Orleans by the time I get back. You may have already seen this on Brian’s blog, but… drumroll please… here are our save-the-dates! We still need to write final copy (I’m totally calling that guy at Gem Printing for some pointers), but the design is finished. What do you think? Isn’t Brian fantastically talented (in addition to being ridiculously good looking)?

Would you stay here so that we can continue to sit back-to-back and publish blog posts instead of working? It makes me feel like less of a loser. Although it is sort of creepy to offer my comments in writing instead of verbally.
I have to say, I didn’t get the Ferris wheel connection on the save-the-dates at first. (“Where is THAT in New Orleans? I’ve been gone too long!) But that was before I saw the quote on the back, and now it all makes sense.
I do think you should edit the copy to say: “Brian Burgess and Gillian Dicker are getting MARRIED!!!:) On the seventeenth day of January in the year of our Lord two thousand and nine!!!”
Emoticons are really important (duh), and excessive use of exclamation points will more accurately convey how excited you REALLY ARE!!!
And I don’t even have to tell you why using numerical figures is just wrong, wrong, wrong.

Ide, I think I’m actually only going to communicate with you via blog comments or IMs for the rest of my visit. Maybe I’ll leave you passive-aggressive Post-Its, but I’m not sure.
What about “Brian Burgess and Gillian Dicker are getting MARRIED!!! OMG, sooo exciting :)!!! Come and be jealous of us and take notes on how to upstage us when YOU get married!”
Love the design – Brian, you are indeed as talented as you are really, really ridiculously good looking.
I dig the old-timey carnival theme. If you really want to be authentic, you should charge guests for admission to the wedding and hire a carnie to perform the ceremony.

Would that fly in the Church?
Those look fantastic! I am just really glad the design with the clown did not make it. You know how I feel about clowns…can we dress like side show freaks at the wedding? I call Snake Lady!
Jules, I share your fear of clowns. Though Melia’s carnie might be just as terrifying. You should be the Snake Lady/contortionist. HOT.
Oh my gosh Gillian!! I love your “save the date”! So awesome…. I just checked out your wedding blog now and planning looks like it’s a lotta work. I can’t wait to plan for mine [insert sarcastic voice here.]
It sounds like the theme for your wedding is excellent. :) A friend who recently got married told me once you set a theme, things just come together faster.
Anyway, I will check on your blog more often, steal some ideas, hehehehe :P
Bisous mon amie!!
